My Story
I am Kamilla, a product and packaging designer from the Netherlands
My most recent work, Final Touch, I collaborated with De Treeswijkhoeve, a two-star Michelin restaurant in the south of the Netherlands, where I designed a full concept for a memorable and innovative dining experience. In this competitive and continuously developing culinary world, it is hard to stand out beyond service and the creation of nourishing dishes. Leading this project for half a year as an industrial product designer in an environment primarily shaped by hospitality and chef backgrounds taught me how to balance business goals, engineering constraints, and user experience design in a different context, while also deepening my understanding of the value of design.
I graduated from the Technical University of Eindhoven with a master’s degree in Industrial Product Design, and from HAS University of Applied Sciences with a specialisation in Packaging & Design. I enjoy challenging myself to think beyond the ordinary by understanding consumers’ needs and wishes, experimenting with materials, and developing hundreds of prototypes to design successful, valuable, sustainable, and innovative products.
I grew up in a village in the north of the Netherlands, often referred as the world’s potato city, in a mixed-nationality household. Being exposed to different cultures from an early age sparked a lasting fascination with cuisines, tools, and products from around the world. While sports played a central role during my early years, I also found calm and focus in baking, crafting, and spending time in nature—habits that remain part of my daily routine today.
I have always been driven to create. From reusing leftover materials to make jewellery to designing and building my own wooden furniture, making ideas tangible has been a constant. This mindset eventually led me to start my own business: a food truck that combined my creativity in the kitchen with business insight and an entrepreneurial drive, while pushing me well beyond my comfort zone.
This hands-on way of thinking continues to shape how I approach design—curious, resourceful, and always focused on turning ideas into meaningful, tangible experiences.
